Teams Continue to Impress in Week 3

As the AABL 2008 Season continues to press ahead, teams are finding their identity and discovering where they stand in the league. With plenty of personnel moves made during the offseason, it is evident that players and teams are still getting accustomed to their new squads. Quiet Storm, Squires, and Raptors are already in mid-season form as all three are the only remaining undefeated teams going into Week 4. The Blazers and Forwarders both grinded out tough yet encouraging wins to keep their season hopes high. The Bulldogs and the Wolves take a positive step as they earn their first wins of the season. After great games in Week 3, expect some big time action for the remainder of the season.

Week 2 Action Fails to Disappoint

image Although most of the games in Week 2 were blowouts, there were plenty of action-packed moments. While some teams are still trying to iron out there gameplan, others are already playing with playoff confidence. Prodigies have definitely put their name on the AABL map with an exciting brand of up-tempo, high-flying basketball-- all while playing with great poise and teamwork. Not bad for a team whose average age is about 18 years old. Another team which opened eyes in Week 2 was Venom which battled it out with a formidable Bulldogs squad. Venom proved that they can do-it-all, and in this game they especially highlighted their ability to shoot the three-ball. Quiet Storm, Raptors, Squires, and DOC all had relatively smooth days as they all seemed to easily beat up on their opponents. The Blazers have gained some new found confidence as they crushed a Warriors team which lost a close game to a tough Raptors team.

IMPORTANT:  Game Schedule Change

image

Due to the less than perfect condition of the gym floor at Azalea Garden Middle School, we have requested repair work to be done.  Unfortunately, for them to complete the repairs and refinishing it will take weekend work, so that no occupants are in the building for 36-48 hours.  This runs too close to the time we would be using the gym, so instead of risking a sticky floor and chemicals in the air we have decided to push the season back.

AABL 2008 Season Jump-Off

Last Sunday's opening games got the AABL 2008 Season off to a sizzling start.  The First Week of the season is renowned for sloppy play and poor chemistry, but many teams performed impressively and it was evident that players have been balling hard in the off-season.   Young, new talent stepped up and proved they aren't scared.  And some old school NAABL players and squads copped a roster facelift  in the hopes of getting ahead (or just keeping up) with the rest of the competition.  The new season got off to a great start for some but a little bumpy for others.  Just remember it's not how you start a season but how you finish it.

We are in the process of entering the team rosters into the database and the scores, stats, recaps, standings, and pictures for Week 1.  Thanks for your patience!
