AABL 3-on-3 SHOOTOUT: Update, Rules, Prizes and more!

With the AABL 3-on-3 SHOOTOUT a few days away, here a few updates: It's not too late to register for the SHOOTOUT! We currently have some tough teams registered to play, but to encourage a larger, competitive playing field we have reduced the team entry fee to $100 per team. Teams will be able to register on the day of the tournament with a $15 "day-of" registration fee. The cut-off time for day-of registrations will be 10 a.m. Please make checks payable to "Asian American Basketball League, Inc."

All registered teams must be present at the Chespeake Bay Academy gym no later than 10 a.m. (the gym will be open for warm-ups at 9:30 a.m.). At this time the officials will go over the rules and answer player questions. Teams must have matching jerseys and/or t-shirts; numbers are not necessary but are helpful for scorekeeping purposes. In order to maintain an orderly tournament, teams and players must be aware of their game time and be set and ready to take the court shortly after the previous game is completed. At least half of the players on each team must be of Asian descent (as defined by AABL league rules). To protect the integrity of the league, the AABL reserves the right to disallow any team or player from participating in the tournament for any reason.

Some of the game rules: Each team must have at least 3 players and a maximum of 5 players. Each game will have a 20 minute running clock with alternating possessions after each basket scored. A tie after 20 minute regulation results in a sudden death OT. First possession of the game and first OT possession are decided by a coin toss. Substitutions are unlimited but allowed only when the ball is dead. The clock will only stop at during dead balls in the last 2 minutes of play. Each team will be allowed TWO 30 second timeouts, but the clock will continue to run during timeouts, unless they are called during the last 2 minutes of play. These and other rules will be elaborated upon by the officials at the day of the tournament.

The AABL will never offer a cash prize in any of its events because it usually brings out poor sportsmanship in players, but thanks to local sponsors and supporters the Championship team will receive a prize package worth up to $300! The address of Chesapeake Bay Academy is 821 Baker Road, Virginia Beach, VA located near Virginia Wesleyan College. CBA offers a new, cozy gymnasium which is a potential site for future AABL events, so even if you aren't playing come and check out the new venue!

If you have any questions regarding the tourney please hit up the forum or contact Ferd Dimaiwat at . Please stay tuned for more info!
