(40) Forwarders vs. (56) Squires, Week 2
Both Squires and the Forwarders played well enough that Squires held a slim 1 point lead at the half, 28-27. That’s when the Forwarders’ fortune turned for the worse. Squires used a 9-0 run to start the 2nd half to run away with this one, winning by 16. Squires used some tough defense and forced the Forwarders into bad shots for the final 20 minutes and offensively they spread the floor and found the open man repeatedly. Ryan Driggers applied most of the damage for Squires with a game-high 21 points, 11 reb, 1 stl, 1 blk. All six Squires players scored; in contrast the Forwarders boasted only 1 double-digit scorer (Ryan Pauling with 14 points). The Forwarders looked out of sync since the second half started and they never recovered from the Squires’ run, opting to force shots rather than move the ball to find easy scores (their first FG didn’t come until 13:00 minutes were left in the game). jv
